Hope's Angel (detail of larger image)
2001 completed as a gift to my neice
12in. x 18in. charcoal pencil on Canson paper

I enjoy charcoal drawings, as the 'process' of visualizing and shading is similar to painting in monotone. The shades and shapes create the image, rather than the drawing. To me, it is a transition from pen and ink to paint, and helped me bridge the chasm I felt during my early tries at painting on canvas.
