This was a particularly fun cover, for which I did the type treatment as well. The novel concerned genetic engineering, fringe science, and jungle warfare, and was truly incredible to read. For the painting, I used my hand as the model (had to cut my nails afterward, though) and also did much of the work in Painter, which was a great experience. I love the painterly look, and, judging by the response from fans and online communities, the piece is one of my strongest for 2011.
