Process - Sketch

I begin with a sketch, sparked by whatever idea may hit me at any particular time. I carry a small sketchbook for this purpose. The idea for Offering came from an earlier sketch in the book, which was never completed as a painting. One section of it, showing a wall of gears, sparked this idea. I had already liked the juxtaposition of such an object with a human figure, and that is what I went with when doing the initial Offering sketch. You will notice at the time I was calling it Offerings, which I was not as pleased with. The final title was decided at the final brush stroke.
