Process - Linework

I scanned this drawing and imported it into a Freehand layout I created using the initial small sketch as a rough guide. In Freehand, I worked out the mechanics of the gears and machinery, and brought the image into some semblance of its final design. I printed this Freehand file at 100% and used it to trasfer to my prepared canvas using the graphite tracing technique we all learn in art school. I then re-drew the image, finalizing and filling in detail as I saw fit.
